Our humble beginnings, in 1984, were established in the basement of our Father and Grandfathers townhouse on Bath Street, in the seaside town of Portrush, close to the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland.
With a keen community-interest in all things surf, skate and snow, Troggs grew moving out of the basement into a larger premises on Main Street which offered two shop floors filled with iconic surf, skate and snow brands. For a time Troggs Surf Shop also held a presence in the towns of Portstewart and Ballymena!
Troggs Main Store in the heart of Portrush has been a constant space encouraging everyone to enjoy the ocean and outdoor activity. In 2021 the store expanded into two separate locations both with a specific purpose:
- Our Main Street Store is a Fashion Hub offering the charm of a family-led, local business continuing to showcase core brands in the scene with a small selection of entry level equipment
- Our Boardriders Store situated on Causeway Street, was designed specifically as an Equipment Hub supplying leading surf hardware for all levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. It houses a serious selection of boards, wetsuits and accessories required to build the perfect surf set-up.
Both stores are approximately three minutes on foot door-to-door. Our staff in both stores can advise based on your wants and needs, directing you to the best store and product.
Troggs most recent venture in 2025, was establishing an exclusive Rip Curl Fashion Store on Bath Street, in a premises adjacent to the Main Street Store.
Rip Curl has been a pivotal brand in our line-up for over 40 years and has defined surf culture globally- supporting athletes, hosting competitions and developing innovative surf technology for the enjoyment and excellence of our sport.
As all Rip Curl Stores internationally, the retail space offers an immersive brand experience channeling 'The Search' spirit - a concept and mindset of adventure, exploration and perusing new waves and experiences in life. Our store is a gateway to surf culture for those passionate about the ocean and have an interest in the lifestyle.
