JJF's new go to board. We were incredibly lucky to speak to Jon Pyzel on Boardshop Airwaves series, where he gave us the world exclusive on John John's new board. The Pyzel Red Tiger has been refined under the feet of John, with a goal to create a daily high-performance surfboard that gives him unrivalled speed to perform huge turns. Jon Pyzel was tasked to make a board that JJF can take on waves and push the limits of performance on waves like they will find at Trestles. The result of all their work is one of the best high-performance boards to hit the market. You will see John John flaring all over the world tour on this Red Tiger.

Breaking down the Red Tiger and what makes it so magical, the concave and rocker profile are where you see this board differ from similar performance models. It has the flattest rocker of all Pyzel boards in the performance category. This paired with the single to double concave running through the board allows for speed that is effortless. You will find yourself surfing faster, transitioning over flat sections without an issue and flowing rail to rail with consistent driving speed. The Red Tiger has JJF's favourite bottom contours. A single to double concave that flows into a deeper double with a deep vee, that flows off the fins and rail! This allows vertical hits as well as rail to rail transitions.

With a flat deck, the volume and foam distribution allows more foam to sit throughout the board and it carries more foam towards the rail until they pair down into a tapered rail to keep sensitivity and response in the board. This allows you to ride the Red Tiger roughly an inch shorter than your traditional HPSB.

A key point is that although this board has been made for the best surfer that has ever walked on the planet, that does not mean that mere mortals cant use this board too! Surfers from a good intermediate level up to John himself can use this model. You want to size this according to your level. For a decent level daily surfer, do not go too short or under volumed on this, keep the foam in the board as the performance features will allow you to surf with more progression then ever before.
